Headhunters 2011

Unknown

From the pen of Norwegian crime-writer Jo Nesbo, Headhunters is a stylish thriller that provides plenty of entertainment without much pretention. Roger Brown (Askel Hennie) is a corporate headhunter who makes most of his money on the sky as an art thief and forger. In director Morten Tyldum’s film, the diminutive Brown gets more than he bargains for when a theft from a mercenary leads to a double-cross with his partner Clas (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and the twist and turns eventually force Brown to go on the run from police and associates alike. Headhunters is bound to get a Hollywood remake; the black comedy and clever plotting (micro-fibres are used as tracking devices) are neatly integrated into a traditional conspiracy thriller. Brown’s confidence, fall from grace and redemption are all vibrantly captured, and the full-blooded sex and violence makes for a good, adult thriller with an amusingly amoral tone.
