11 Harrowhouse 1974

Elliot Kastner’s production company created some strong action films like Where Eagles Dare, and he assembled a distinguished cast for this light-as-a feather diamond heist romp. Charles Grodin plays the expert on gems who is blackmailed into taking part in a robbery, with James Mason, Sir John Gielgud, Trevor Howard and Peter Vaughn standing by while Grodin romances Candice Bergen and foils the plot. 11 Harrowhouse takes its name from London street which houses the cabal Grodin battles against, and Lotus and Ferrari provides the cars for the breezy car-chase that caps the film off. Aram Avakian’s second film for Kastner, and sadly his last, is a fun caper that doesn’t take itself too seriously. From a novel by Gerald A Brown.
